Charlton Athletic have signed USA defender Oguchi Onyewu on a short-term contract until January.
The 32-year-old free agent, who has played for Newcastle, Milan, Sporting Lisbon and Malaga, is available for Saturday's game against Sheffield Wednesday - another of his former clubs; Onyewu made 19 appearances for Wednesday last season.
Born in Washington, the centre-half has won 69 caps for the USA and featured at two World Cups, playing in the 1-1 draw with England in 2010, but was not involved in Brazil last summer.
Charlton boss Bob Peeters moved for Onyewu after allowing defender Michael Morrison, whose chances have been limited this season, to join Birmingham on a two-month loan earlier this week.
