'One-shot' penalties, new handball rules, limited substitutions in injury-time - what laws should be changed in football?
The International FA Board (IFAB) - the body that determines the laws of football - is meeting this week to consider potential changes and debating whether or not to take proposals to their Annual Meeting in March.
Among the reported changes up for discussion are 'one-shot' penalties and clarification for handballs.
New penalty rules could mean that if a penalty is saved or comes back off the post, then the ball would become 'dead' and a goal-kick would be given. Under those new rules, Paul Pogba would not have had the chance to score his penalty against Everton last month after Jordan Pickford saved his initial effort.
Current handball rules penalise players for "deliberate" handball, but the definition of "deliberate" is often debated, so a potential solution might be to award free-kicks or penalties if a referee deems a player's hand or arm to be in an unnatural position, although again that could be down to interpretation.
Another rule that could be discussed in a bid to reduce time-wasting is any player who is substituted has to walk off the closest touchline rather than going to the technical area.
Also, the advisory panels might look at whether substitutions during injury-time should be stopped or limited in a bid to try to avoid time-wasting.
