Former West Ham defender James Collins has joined Ipswich on a deal until the end of the season.
Collins, who was a free agent, has signed for Ipswich after being forced to cut short a short-term deal with Aston Villa last month due to a shoulder injury.
Town manager Paul Lambert believes the signing could be "huge" for the club, who are bottom of the Sky Bet Championship and 10 points from safety.
He told the club's website: "James has a great presence about him and that can be huge for us.
"He has played at the highest level and his experience will be vital. We're delighted to have him here."
Collins, 35, left West Ham last summer after racking up 214 appearances in two spells with the club. He first joined the Hammers from Cardiff in 2005 and spent four years in east London before leaving for Aston Villa.
He returned in 2012 following West Ham's promotion back to the Premier League and spent another six seasons with the side.
Collins is a former Wales international, who made 51 appearances for his country before retiring from international football in 2017.
Ipswich signed former Tottenham and Derby winger Simon Dawkins earlier this week and also brought in Huddersfield's Colin Quaner on a loan deal until the end of the season.
