Napoli have confirmed they are interested in promising young midfielder Antonio Candreva.

Final decision not made yet, says De Laurentis

Napoli have admitted their interest in signing promising Udinese midfielder Antonio Candreva. The 22-year-old, who is also rumoured to be a West Ham target, has impressed while on loan at newly-promoted Livorno, attracting the interest of several Italian clubs in the process. Candreva was awarded with a call-up to the Italy squad and went on to win his first senior caps against Holland and Sweden. And now Udinese, who still own the player, have confirmed that they were approached by Walter Mazzarri's side.

"We have spoken with Napoli about Candreva and (Swiss midfielder Gokhan) Inler, but we must wait until the transfer window opens," Udinese president Giampoalo Pozzo told Radio Kiss Kiss. Pozzo's counterpart at Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentis, says that Candreva is a transfer target but insists that they have not yet decided whether a bid will be made. "We like Candreva, everyone likes him. We will decide in the coming months, along with coach Mazzarri, if Candreva can be a part of our programme," the Napoli president said. De Laurentis stated that a number of different players could be pursued when the transfer window opens in January, including Liverpool left-back Andrea Dossena. He added: "With Mazzarri we spoke about Dossena and Molinaro, but also of the possibility to sign other players in January. I don't exclude anything."
