Defender Brice Dja Djedje has joined Watford from Marseille on a four-year deal.
The 25-year-old, who passed a medical after agreeing terms on a £3m deal, will link up with his new team mates on their pre-season tour of Austria.
Speaking to French publication L'Equipe, Dja Djedje said: "I had other proposals, yes, even a German club. But I preferred to sign for Watford because this is a good club.
The Ivorian says he is looking forward to working with new Hornets boss Walter Mazzarri, whom he claims was interested in signing him when in charge at Napoli.
"I feel with him [Mazzarri] I can continue to progress," the defender added.
"He wants to play his 3-5-2 team, this is a system that suits me well because we played in a slightly similar way with Marcelo [Bielsa] at Marseille."
Dja Djedje made 69 appearances in his two years at Marseille, scoring only goal during his tenure, against Montpellier in the Coupe de France competition.
New manager Mazzarri has brought in Belgium international Christian Kabasele, Jerome Sinclair from Liverpool and forward Isaac Success as well as Colombia international full-back Juan Camilo Zuniga on loan from Napoli, but are yet to officially confirm Dja Djedje's declaration.
