Fiorentina have made an inquiry about Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue, according to Sky in Italy.

However, the Serie A club may find his wages too high to match, which Sky in Italy believe to be around £1.8m a year.

There is also interest in the 29-year-old, who joined Watford from Tottenham in 2015, from Spanish side Leganes.

Capoue has struggled to hold down a first-team place in Marco Silva's side this season, making 11 appearances and just five of them from the start of matches.

The France international has made 87 appearances for Watford altogether, having cost them around £6m two-and-a-half years ago.

Capoue began his senior career at Toulouse, having graduated from their academy, and signed for Tottenham as part of their major recruitment haul after selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid.
