Middlesbrough have rejected two bids for Jordan Rhodes but Aston Villa have cooled their interest in the striker, according to Sky sources.

It is understood that one bid for the 26-year-old was from Sheffield Wednesday and it is thought that Boro want upwards of £9m for Rhodes.

Middlesbrough signed Rudy Gestede for £6m earlier in the transfer window, with Aitor Karanka suggesting his arrival could lead to Rhodes' exit from the Riverside.

Rhodes, who has made just six appearances this season, joined the club from Blackburn Rovers for £9m in February last year.

Elsewhere, it is understood that Middlesbrough are still interested in Stoke forward Bojan, who was an unused substitute against Manchester United on Saturday.
