Whites appoint new boss
Leeds United have announced that Simon Grayson has been appointed as the new manager at Elland Road.
The Whites parted company with Gary McAllister on Sunday, ending the Scot's disappointing 11-month reign at the League One club.
Five consecutive defeats in all competitions put pay to McAllister's tenure, with the West Yorkshire club crashing out of the FA Cup at the hands of non-league Histon and slipping off the pace in the promotion race.
Having begun the campaign as pre-season favourites to secure a safe passage back into the Championship, Leeds will be hoping Grayson can bring about a reversal in fortune.
The 39-year-old joins the club from Blackpool, where he spent six successful years as a player and manager.
He helped guide the Seasiders to promotion in 2007, before consolidating their standing in the Championship last season.
Pressure
Grayson becomes the third man to take the reins at Elland Road in the last 18 months, with Dennis Wise having filled the pressurised hot-seat prior to McAllister's arrival.
Blackpool had released a statement on Monday confirming an approach for their highly-rated boss had been knocked back and have been left disappointed by the manner in which subsequent events have unfolded.
Having also rejected an offer of resignation from Grayson on Tuesday morning, the Seasiders are now threatening legal action against their former boss and his prospective new employers.
"Blackpool FC can confirm that Simon Grayson tendered his resignation at 8.30 on Tuesday morning," read a statement on the club's
official website.
"The resignation was not accepted by the board of directors and the club are now considering legal action against both Simon Grayson and Leeds United."
