Derby accept Clarets bid for defender

Burnley have had an offer accepted for Derby defender Tyrone Mears. The 26-year-old, also reported to be a Portsmouth target, caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs after an impressive loan spell at Marseille last season. Clarets boss Owen Coyle will now hold talks with the former West Ham man to finalise his switch to Turf Moor. Mears is currently on holiday, but will speak to the Premier League newcomers on his return to iron out personal terms and undergo a medical. Coyle said: "The two clubs have agreed a fee and talks with a view to making the transfer permanent will take place when the player and his representative return from holiday."
