Lilywhites centre-half requires double operation

Preston North End defender Sean St Ledger has revealed that he is set to go under the knife this summer. The Republic of Ireland international requires surgery to repair a double hernia and a torn knee cartilage. The highly-rated centre-half will see out his international commitments against Paraguay and Algeria before having the operation, but is bracing himself for a lengthy rehabilitation programme. St Ledger told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I'm having the hernia done on Sunday and my knee the following day. "It's not the nicest thing to look forward to but the operations have to be done. "Both are quite standard procedures and the injuries are ones I've been playing with for some time. "The knee injury wasn't particularly bothering me, it's the pain in the stomach from the hernia which is worst. "The hernia was troubling me for a couple of months and it will be a relief to get it sorted out. I'll be doing rehabilitation for the whole of June, I'll be in every day."
