Striker focusing on current loan spell at Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion's on-loan striker Sam Vokes remains in the dark regarding his long-term future at parent club Wolves following the recent dismissal of manager Mick McCarthy. The former Sunderland boss was given the boot after the Black Country outfit's 5-1 thumping at the hands of local rivals West Brom and they have appointed McCarthy's assistant Terry Connor until the end of the season. Wales international Vokes was brought to Molineux by McCarthy and has made 59 appearances for the club since joining in 2008, with the 22-year-old highly regarded as a future star by the Premier League outfit. However, the former Bournemouth striker has impressed during previous loan spells at Leeds, Sheffield United, Norwich and Burnley, and he says that he remains focused on helping current club Brighton until told otherwise.

"It will be a completely different place if I did go back there because I've never experienced Wolves without Mick McCarthy at the helm," Vokes told Sky Sports. "I learned a lot from him and was sad to see him go. "They are stuck in a relegation battle at the moment, so I presume their attentions will be focused on that more than my situation. "I'm enjoying my time here at Brighton, so I'll just continue putting everything into the play-off push here unless I'm told otherwise by Wolves down the line. "I feel really settled here now and it is a great club that seems to be going places with a new stadium and everything in place now. "There's a great bunch of lads here and the coaching staff are excellent too, so I'm just looking forward to the rest of the season here."
