Summer chase hotting up for Birmingham midfielder

Skysports.com understands that Steve Bruce is looking to win the race to land Sebastian Larsson on a free transfer this summer. Sunderland boss Bruce was the man who took Larsson to Birmingham from Arsenal, and now he is looking to land him again. The Black Cats were interested in January, but did not follow Aston Villa, Newcastle and Blackburn in making a bid, instead hoping they could get him for free this summer. Now Bruce is looking to lead the charge of Premier League clubs ready to talk with Larsson once the season concludes. Birmingham have stated they will do their utmost to keep Larsson, but the chances of him staying at St Andrews look remote. Sunderland will again have to beat off Villa, Newcastle and Blackburn, who will all rekindle their interest in the Sweden international. But Everton are also ready to join the bidding for the 25-year-old, who is emerging as one of the most desirable free transfers this summer. Larsson was previously considering moving abroad with offers coming in from La Liga, but he has now decided he wants to remain in England.
