Sunderland have made an enquiry about the availability of Brighton winger Kazenga LuaLua.

The 27-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Sunderland's Championship rivals QPR, but returned to Brighton this month after making only eight appearances.

LuaLua last played for his parent club in August 2016 and has only six months remaining on his contract at the Amex Stadium.

He began his career at Sunderland's bitter north-east rivals Newcastle before moving to Brighton in 2011 after failing to break into the team at St James' Park.

Sunderland are currently 22nd in the Championship and only bottom-placed Burton Albion have conceded more goals than them this season.
