Stoke City are preparing a £6.5m bid for Brentford midfielder Ryan Woods, according to Sky sources.

Woods has made 128 appearances for the Bees since joining from Shrewsbury Town in 2015.

However, the 24-year-old is yet to feature for Brentford in the league this season, with the club winning seven points from their opening three games.

Sky Sports News understands that Stoke's potential offer would meet Brentford's asking price for the midfielder, and that the proposed move would be an initial loan to be made permanent in January.
