The 27-year-old hit-man has been instrumental in the club's impressive Second Division campaign this season, grabbing nine goals in 20 games in the league and helping guide them to fifth spot in the table.
News of Thorne's decision to further commit his future to the club is sure to be welcomed by Potters boss Gudjon Thordarson, as he looks to ensure a healthy competition for places in his squad to equip them for the promotion race.
Meanwhile, young winger Steven Taaffe has been allowed to join Second Division rivals Cambridge United on a week's trial, with a view to securing himself a loan switch to The Abbey Stadium.
Stoke's football executive John Rudge explained: "Cambridge want to take a look at Steve this week and if they like what they see we could sort out a loan.
"It's definitely a chance for him because he is one of those players on the fringe of the squad who would definitely benefit from a spell elsewhere.
"His first-team chances here are limited by the competition for places and a change of scenery could be what he needs."
Taaffe spent a month on loan at Conference side Northwich earlier in the season, but he only made one appearance for the club and will be hoping for a more successful spell at Cambridge.
