Defender turned down Motherwell to link up with Lambert's side

Colchester United have confirmed the signing of Lee Beevers on a two-year contract from Lincoln City. The defender will join the League One club on a free transfer on 1st July after rejecting a new deal at Lincoln. He was also wanted by SPL side Motherwell, but Beevers was persuaded to move to the Us by manager Paul Lambert. Beevers told the Gazette: "There were other clubs interested, but after speaking to Paul Lambert and getting to know him, my mind was made up. "He told me what he wants to do and where he wants to go with Colchester. "I played against his Wycombe sides a few times in the past and I was impressed by the way they played. "The size of the club was also a big factor in me coming here. "I was at Lincoln for four-and-a-half years, but it was the right time to move on."
