Colchester v Exeter preview

Team news for Saturday's League One clash between Colchester and Exeter at Weston Homes Community Stadium (kick-off 1pm).

Anthony Wordsworth makes a timely return to Colchester's ranks for the New Year's Eve match. The midfielder, United's top scorer this term with eight goals, missed the 6-1 Boxing Day embarrassment at home to Stevenage due to a one-match suspension, but will go straight back into the starting XI. Manager John Ward must now decide how many get the chop against the Grecians, telling the club's official website: "I could pick any team for Saturday and no-one would have reason to come and knock on my door. "But with my squad as it is there will be some that will be getting second chances and they better take them." The likes of Steven Gillespie, Kemal Izzet, Ben Coker, Tom Eastman and fit-again defender Pat Baldwin will be hoping for recalls, while defender Michael Rose is to be assessed having been forced off against Boro due to injury. Winger Ashley Vincent (hamstring) is not yet ready to make his return. Meanwhile, Exeter are sweating over the fitness of on-loan winger Chris Hackett ahead of their trip. The Millwall man sustained a knee injury after receiving a kick in the Grecians' 3-1 defeat at Wycombe on Boxing Day and will be assessed by the club's medical staff prior to kick-off at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Daniel Nardiello, who came off the bench to replace Hackett at Wycombe, could step into the starting XI if required, while Richard Duffy and John O'Flynn are both pushing for recalls. Otherwise manager Paul Tisdale has a fully-fit squad to choose from, and the Exeter boss has no new suspension worries either as he looks to lead his side to their first win in four attempts.
