Sheffield Wednesday have had a bid of £100,000 rising to £200,000 turned down by Blackburn Rovers for defender Charlie Mulgrew, Sky sources understand.
Scotland international Mulgrew moved to Ewood Park 12 months ago after a six-year spell at hometown club Celtic.
The 31-year-old featured in 30 matches in all competitions for Rovers last season, scoring three goals.
Rovers, who were relegated to League One on the final day of last season, saw goalkeeper Jason Steele leave for Middlesbrough earlier this week.
Wednesday, who finished fourth in the Championship last term, have already strengthened their squad ahead of next season with the acquisitions of Jordan Rhodes and George Boyd.
