David Prutton's Sky Bet EFL predictions

Prutton's Predictions

David Prutton returns with his Sky Bet EFL predictions ahead of the weekend fixtures, but who is he tipping for victory?

Leeds v Brentford, Saturday - Live on Sky Sports Football from 12pm

Leeds are back on top of the table thanks to their win at Hull on Tuesday night. They only edged it thanks to Tyler Roberts' excellent strike but they could easily have had a few more and still look good value for promotion.

Brentford are not quite flying as they were a few weeks ago and they are still yet to win on the road all season. That record needs to improve but I cannot see that happening at Elland Road.

Prutton predicts: 2-1 (17/2 with Sky Bet)

Bolton v Blackburn, Saturday - Live on Sky Sports Football from 5.15pm

It's been a mixed week for Bolton as they claimed a massive win over Derby before falling to defeat at Stoke on Tuesday night. You imagine, though, that those types of runs of results will be the story of their season.

Blackburn have slipped back down the table and have just one win in their last six games. They have plenty going forward to trouble Bolton, but I cannot split these two. Score draw.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (16/1 with Sky Bet)

Bristol City v Sheffield Wednesday, Sunday 1.30pm - Live on Sky Sports Football red button

Bristol City are now four without a win after their goalless draw at Rotherham in midweek, but the closeness of the Championship at the moment means they head into the weekend just a point off the play-offs.

Sheffield Wednesday will be gutted with how they let the game slip so late on against West Brom, and they know they should have taken all three points. Draw for me.

Prutton predicts: 2-2 (14/1 with Sky Bet)

Millwall v Aston Villa, Saturday 3pm

It was a brilliant fightback from Millwall to earn a point at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, but if they had taken their chances in the first half they surely would have earned all three.

Aston Villa are now on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Steve Bruce, it will be interesting to see which way they turn in that regard, but I fancy them to come away from The Den with a victory.

Prutton predicts: 0-2 (11/1 with Sky Bet)

Norwich v Stoke, Saturday 3pm

Norwich's winning run came to an end at Derby on Wednesday night but it still took a late goal from the Rams to deny them all three points. They really appear to have turned a corner under Daniel Farke.

Stoke saw off Bolton in midweek but did not look entirely convincing in doing so. This is a big step up in terms of quality of opposition and I feel like this will be a narrow home win.

Prutton predicts: 1-0 (7/1 with Sky Bet)

Swansea v Ipswich, Saturday 3pm

No side has been involved in fewer goals in the Sky Bet Championship than Swansea, with just 10 scored and six conceded. The midweek draw at Wigan was their fourth goalless game of the season already.

Ipswich were easily outclassed by Middlesbrough in midweek and are still the only side without a win in the division. There are unlikely to be many goals at the Liberty Stadium but Swansea should just edge it.

Doncaster v Fleetwood, Saturday 3pm

Doncaster's winning run came to an end in midweek and Grant McCann will be desperate for his side to bounce back as quickly as possible to continue their fine start to the season.

Fleetwood have hit a bit of a bump in the road under Joey Barton and have failed to win any of their last five games, picking up just two points in the process. But I reckon they will get another one here.

Prutton predicts: 1-1 (11/2 with Sky Bet)

Forest Green v Newport, Saturday 3pm

I do not think too many would have put these two in the top six by October at the start of the season, but that is both where they find themselves at this moment. Forest Green are still unbeaten but they are four points behind Newport in third.

County drew in midweek but a small gap has opened between the top three and the rest, and they will hope to make that a little bit bigger with victory at The New Lawn. But I think this one will be a draw.
