Six-month loan deal for QPR man

Sky Sports understands Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton is poised to seal his loan switch to Fleetwood Town. As revealed by skysports.com last month, Fleetwood were lining up a shock move for Barton after he linked up with them for pre-season training. QPR are thought to be happy to loan out the controversial midfielder after incidents on the final day of last term resulted in him being banned for 12 matches for two counts of violent conduct. Barton was stripped of the QPR captaincy and has been left out of Mark Hughes's squad for their pre-season plans. A number of clubs are thought to have expressed an interest in signing Barton on loan, but Fleetwood have managed to persuade the former Manchester City and Newcastle man to make the move to the League Two newcomers. The move is thought to be have been ratified by the Football League and Barton is set to join the Cod Army on a six-month loan deal until January. However, the midfielder has denied reports any deal has been done. "BBC news jumping the gun a bit," he said on Twitter. "I've not signed for Fleetwood. Just currently enjoying training there..."
