Nigel Pearson has been sacked as manager of Belgian second division side OH Leuven – Leicester’s sister club.
The former Leicester boss was appointed to the role in September 2017 and led Leuven to second in the regular league season last term, but has left with the side second bottom of the table after two wins from their 10 games so far.
OH Leuven was bought by late Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha in June 2017 and Pearson - who had been dismissed from his position at the King Power Stadium two years earlier - was appointed manager.
"Oud-Heverlee Leuven has decided on Sunday to end the collaboration with manager Nigel Pearson," a club statement said.
"Nigel was appointed as manager of OHL in September 2017. His extensive know-how and experience have helped to bring about the infrastructure, the processes and a professional culture.
"The board of directors is convinced that this will contribute to the further growth and development of OH Leuven to a long-term success.
"We cannot, however, look next to the bad results that have put OHL in a difficult position. Therefore, the board of directors finds it necessary to make a change in order to positively influence the results of the upcoming matches.
"Everyone at OHL is grateful for the work Nigel has done over the past 16 months and wishes him every success in his future career."
Assistant coach Joachim Mununga will take care of coaching responsibility for the club's away game at Mechelen on Saturday, as they begin looking for Pearson's replacement.
Pearson has also managed Carlisle, Southampton, Hull and Derby but his role at OH Leuven was his first coaching position overseas.
