Leeds manager Neil Redfearn has confirmed his interest in bringing striker Luciano Becchio back to Elland Road.

Becchio, 31, left Leeds for Norwich two years ago for an undisclosed fee in a deal that saw Steve Morison move in the opposite direction, but he has not scored in 16 appearances and his said agent this week the player was keen to return to West Yorkshire.

Redfearn, whose side could drop into the relegation zone on Saturday if they lose at Bolton, told a press conference: "He would be one that would give us good competition. He knows Leeds."

Leeds have also been linked with Sassuolo forward Leonardo Pavoletti and Palermo defender Sol Bamba, formerly of Leicester and Hibernian.

Redfearn added: "The ideal scenario is that we get two or three signings in to freshen things up a bit."

Becchio was loaned to Rotherham at the start of the current season but was sidelined for three months due to a fractured heel.

The Argentinian endeared himself to Leeds fans during a five-and-a-half-year spell with the club after arriving from Spanish club Merida in August 2008.

His agent Horacio Rossi revealed earlier this week: "Leeds is Luciano's home and if they want to sign him they know where we are.

"Leeds is always going to be a special club for Luciano. It's a club he loves."
