Defender happy to stay at the club he loves

Julian Bennett has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal to keep him at the City Ground until 2010. The defender has made 16 appearances for Nottingham Forest in League One this season as Colin Calderwood looks to lead the side back into the Championship. The defender returned to Forest from Walsall in 2006 after being released by the club's academy at the age of 14. He has made the left-back spot his own since his arrival, and despite the summer arrival of Matt Lockwood who threatens to take his place once fit, Bennett admitted that he did not need to think twice about agreeing to stay with the club he supported as a boy.

No hesitation

"There was never any hesitation in my mind that signing a new contract was the right thing to do once the club mentioned they wanted to offer me a new deal," he told the club's official website. "I love it at Forest. Everybody knows I supported the club as a kid and having had a spell away from the club when I was released from the academy, I can't imagine not being around the place."
