Boyd grabs winner from the bench

Leyton Orient substitute Adam Boyd came off the bench to net the only goal in a 1-0 win against his former club. Hartlepool posed early threats through Joel Porter and Kevin Kyle but it was Orient who were closer to first-half goals. From Brian Saah's free-kick his fellow centre-back Tamika Mkandawire headed over onrushing goalkeeper Arran Lee-Barrett only for the ball to drift wide. Midfielder Sean Thornton hit the crossbar with a free-kick and winger JJ Melligan broke in from the right and fired against the far post. Full-back Danny Granville burst into the box and had a shot deflected, midfielder Adam Chambers volleyed over from Melligan's cross and Thornton threatened with a run from deep as Orient maintained the pressure after the break. The Hartlepool defence failed to cut out a through ball from Chambers and Boyd raced on to net with a low drive in the 81st minute.
