Former Crystal Palace goalkeeper Scott Flinders has spoken of his delight after sealing a switch to Hartlepool.
Flinders believes plying his trade with the League One outfit is a good career move after making just 11 starts in three years with the Eagles before he was released at the start of the summer.
The 23-year-old has become Chris Turner's fifth capture of the summer, following Adam Boyd, Peter Hartley, Leon McSweeney and Neil Austin in signing for the club.
Turner was on the lookout for a new keeper after releasing Arran Lee-Barrett and Jan Budtz at the end of last term and Flinders cannot wait to get started.
Good step
He told the club's
official website: "I've had a bit of interest from a few clubs but I'm happy to be signing for Hartlepool, it's going to be a good step for me to move on in my career.
"I came and had a look round the club and I was really impressed with what I saw and the plans that are in place for the season ahead and beyond."
Flinders revealed that the chance to work with Turner was a big influence in his decision to join Hartlepool.
"One of the main things is Chris Turner being a goalkeeper himself and to get advice from him in training and after games," he said.
"I see the coaching from Monday to Friday as really important and now I'm just looking forward to the start of the season and getting cracking."
Flinders is targeting clean sheets for the season ahead, adding: "I'm a good talker, I like to take crosses and I'd like to think I'm a good shot stopper and the main thing for keepers is clean sheets - giving bit of confidence to the team."
