Carlisle's on-loan defender Christian Ribeiro hopes his performances will earn him a recall to the first team back at Bristol City.

Defender keen to be given a chance under McInnes in the New Year

Carlisle United's on-loan defender Christian Ribeiro hopes that his performances will earn him a recall to the first team back at Bristol City in the New Year. The Wales international has made five appearances for the Cumbrians since joining on loan last month having found first-team chances restricted at Ashton Gate. However, the 21-year-old has revealed he is keen to show new Robins manager Derek McInnes what he can offer upon his return in January. "I haven't been injured at all this year and it was a little frustrating to be frozen out of the team under the previous manager, especially with the team losing every week," Ribeiro told skysports.com.

Impress

"The new manager has told everyone that they will be given their chance and you can't argue when the lads in the team are doing well and they are the minute. "It was just nice to get an opportunity to go out on loan to a good club and show everyone what I can do. "I want to impress everybody, from both Carlisle and Bristol City's point of view, and it has just been a case of waiting in the wings for my chance to come until I came here. "The new manager's arrival has given everyone around the club a boost and you can see it in their performances because confidence has really grown. "The group of players at the club have always been a good side, but it was just a case of lacking confidence and there has been a lot of positivity around the place since Derek came in."
