Former England duo could renew partnership at Bloomfield Road

Kevin Phillips believes Robbie Fowler would provide Blackpool's youngsters with another role model. It was last week revealed the 36-year-old former Liverpool and England striker was training with the Bloomfield Road club ahead of a shock return to British football. Fowler and Blackpool are in talks over a possible deal until the end of the season and, having played with the forward at international level, Phillips thinks it would be an excellent deal. "It's been great to see Robbie training with the club," Phillips told Blackpool's official website.

Dad's Army

"I know him from our England days and he looked fit and sharp and ready to help us. "He's one of the best strikers the country has produced in modern times and would be a great signing for the club." Fowler would sign for a Blackpool club who are earning a 'Dad's Army' nickname with a squad which already includes Phillips, 38, Brett Ormerod, 35, and Barry Ferguson, 34. But Phillips said: "The gaffer has used the experienced lads like me and Barry Ferguson to help the younger lads and there's plenty more to learn from someone like Robbie. "There's already been plenty of banter flying around about me, Robbie and Brett all playing together - we wouldn't be short of experience that day!"
