League One rivals Rochdale and Fleetwood are battling it out for the signature of former Blackpool midfielder Jacob Mellis.
The 24-year-old is a free agent after being released by the Championship club earlier this month but is already attracting interest from Dale and the Cod Army. Mellis enjoyed the best spell of his career at Barnsley when he was managed by current Rochdale boss Keith Hill, but he left Oakwell following the club's relegation last summer. He began the 2014/15 campaign at troubled Blackpool but made only 14 appearances before heading out to Oldham on loan.
