Swansea have completed the signing of Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa in a deal worth £11m.

Mesa has signed a four-year contract with the Swans after undergoing a medical at the club's Fairwood training base on Thursday morning.

The 28-year-old made 35 appearances for Las Palmas last season and leaves Gran Canaria after a seven-year spell with the La Liga club.

"I'm very happy to be here. It's a new challenge and a new adventure," Mesa told Swansea's website.

"The manager knows me, he knows how I play and what I can contribute to the team. I'll try to make the team play.

"I know he's like [Carlo] Ancelotti - he likes to play and wants to create a different Premier League team which likes to play. The manager is a person who knows how to play and that's something I really like."

Mesa met his new team-mates on Wednesday and will take part in his first training session on Monday as the Swans prepare to face Barnet in their opening pre-season fixture on July 12.
