Versatile defender pens two-year deal

Shrewsbury have announced that Kelvin Langmead has signed a new two-year deal with the club. Skysports.com revealed earlier this week that the versatile 24-year-old had agreed to stay with the League Two club following productive talks with the Shrews management. Paul Simpson has now confirmed the news and expressed his satisfaction at keeping hold of Langmead. "I am delighted that Kelvin has pledged his future to the club for another two years," Simpson told the club's official website. "I am looking forward to working with him from July 1." Langmead started his career as a striker but was converted into a centre-back by previous Shrews boss Gary Peters and has not looked back since. A firm fans' favourite, Langmead has been with Shrewsbury since joining from Preston in 2004.
