Quakers salvage draw but Todd still goes

Curtis Main's late strike earned 10-man Darlington a 1-1 draw at Grimsby but it wasn't enough to keep Colin Todd at the helm. Todd parted company with the club despite substitute Main nodding home in the 81st minute to cancel out Rob Atkinson's 21st minute opener for Grimsby. The Mariners posed problems for Darlington from set pieces and went ahead from a corner. Peter Sweeney delivered from the right and Atkinson rose at the near post to plant a firm header past Russell Hoult. From further Sweeney corners Atkinson and Ryan Bennett both went close with headers. James Devitt almost levelled after 70 minutes with a fierce low shot which was well saved by Josh Lillis before Jamie Chandler was dismissed for Darlington after an off-the-ball clash with Danny North. But Main equalised after being unmarked to head home Tony Kane's right-wing cross and then Hoult pulled off a fine save from Bennett's late header.
