Burton boss feels midfielder may be heading abroad in the summer

Burton Albion manager Paul Peschisolido remains convinced that highly-rated midfielder Jacques Maghoma will be leaving the club this summer. The Congolese youngster impressed for the Brewers last season, making 45 appearances after joining permanently from Tottenham last summer following a successful loan period. However, the 23-year-old's contract is set to expire and, despite being offered a new deal by the League Two outfit, Peschisolido expects Maghoma to seek pastures new. "The feeling I'm getting from him is that he has got himself fixed up elsewhere, so I'm pretty sure that he is leaving," Peschisolido told skysports.com.

Disappointed

"He was excellent for us last season and I'm disappointed not to have him on board for next season, but he wanted a new challenge and I think he might be moving abroad too. "Obviously, you want to keep your best players at the club and his performances last season showed why I wanted to keep him, but it looks like he won't be with us for much longer." A frustrating campaign saw the Brewers successfully battle against relegation last season and Peschisolido is keen to strengthen his squad this summer following the loss of key players. He added: "I'll probably lose Mr Maghoma and I've already lost Russell Penn, which was a blow, so I think I need another two or three players for sure. "If I get a season-long loan then great, but most managers want to keep all their players with them for pre-season to see how they get on, so waiting for loans can be a nervous strategy. "I'd like to bring in two or three permanent signings this summer and leave the loans until during the season in case we need them because of injuries and suspensions."
