Wilson hopeful of landing striker
understands Swindon are closing in on the signing of Manchester City starlet David Ball.
Swindon boss Danny Wilson has revealed the club are close to landing an unnamed striker on a season-long loan and skysports.com
understands Ball is the mystery target.
Ball is highly-rated at City and is tipped for a big future in the game after coming through the ranks at Eastlands.
City are prepared to loan out Ball so that he can get some valuable first-team action under his belt and he will help fill the void left by Billy Paynter's departure to Leeds.
"We've got one that's 99.9% coming and we're looking for another one as well," Wilson told the Swindon Advertiser
. "So with a bit of luck in a couple of weeks we will have two strikers in at least.
"(The first one) is a year-long loan deal. The club need the chance to formulate their squad for their own tour and we expect one of the boys to not go and to stay with us. I've spoken to the boy and he's desperate to come here, desperate for first-team football.
"We've done it before and given players the chance to make the step up. They have returned to their parent club and their stock has gone massive. We hope to do the same thing again."
