Pilgrims boss Neil Thompson brought the 23-year-old in for a closer look, after the custodian failed to land a deal with fellow Division Three side York City.
Croudson failed to make a first-team appearance last season with The Mariners after he was sidelined with a serious shoulder injury.
He is now expected to put pressure on number one Paul Bastock for the starting job at York Street this season, as Boston embark on their second season in The Football League.
Thompson was delighted to land the former Grimsby man, having admitted to being in the market for a new keeper.
"We've been looking for a goalkeeper for a while," said Thompson.
"Obviously we've got Paul Bastock, which is great, but he needs someone to challenge him.
"Steve works very hard and will push Paul for the number one spot."
