Silkmen swoop for Bakare

Macclesfield have completed the signing of Chelmsford forward Michael Bakare on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old only joined the Blue Square Bet South outfit in October from Bishop's Stortford - where he netted 11 goals in 15 appearances - on non-contract terms. He was ineligible for the Clarets' FA Cup run, which was eventually ended after a replay by Macclesfield, but still managed to score six times in eight starts. Bakare turned out for the Silkmen's reserve team in this week's 3-0 win over Oldham and is expected to go straight into Gary Simpson's squad for Saturday's trip to Swindon. "He's got electric pace and Macclesfield probably saw that when they were scouting us for the FA Cup games." said Chelmsford manager Glenn Pennyfather on his club's official website. "When you score goals people are going to take a look. Every now and then you unearth a gem, and Macclesfield may have done just that."
