Young defender set for move

Skysports.com understands that Celtic are keen to secure a loan move for Josh Thompson this season. Neil Lennon is a confirmed admirer of the 20-year-old, who joined Cetic back in 2009 from Stockport. Thompson has tasted first-team action for the Bhoys, playing some 18 games for the SPL giants. Celtic sent Thompson for a loan spell with Rochdale during the latter part of last season and they are now keen for him to gain further experience.

Loan

"I have spoken to Celtic and they are keen for him to go back out on loan to gain more experience. He does, however, remain in their long term plans," his agent Peter Morrison of James Grant Sports confirmed to skysports.com. "I have now spoken to a number of clubs in both the Championship and League One and there is certainly a great deal of interest. "Celtic will be returning from their pre-season tour of Australia next week and we hope to finalise things upon their return." Doncaster, Barnsley, Preston, Charlton, Oldham, Scunthorpe and Bury are thought to be amongst the clubs showing an interest in Thompson.
