Hibernian have signed former Dundee United winger Ryan Gauld on loan from Sporting Lisbon until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old joined up with his new team-mates in Dubai this week for their winter training camp, but was unable to take part in today's 1-0 friendly win over Al Wasl as the paperwork was not completed in time.
Gauld has been playing in Lisbon with Sporting since 2014, when he joined in a £3m deal from Dundee United.
"I've been aware that Hibs were keen to get me in the door as soon as possible and that made me feel really wanted," Gauld said.
"It played a big part in my decision.
"The manager told me to come here and show everyone what I can do, to try to add quality to the team."
Since moving to Portugal at the age of 16, Gauld has struggled to break into the Sporting line-up and has spent much of his time out on loan.
The Scottish youth international spent the first half of this season on loan at Farense, playing his last game for the Portuguese second-tier side on Sunday.
Hibs are eighth in the Scottish Premiership, with their first league game after the winter break against Motherwell on January 23.
