Paris Saint-Germain will go into the Trophee des Champions against Lyon without captain Thiago Silva and striker Edinson Cavani.

Central defender Silva has a hip problem, while Cavani misses Saturday's match at the Worthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria, with a calf strain.

The competition traditionally pitches the Ligue 1 champions against the French Cup winners, but Lyon come in following their second-place finish after PSG secured the domestic double last season.

Cavani's absence opens the door for young striker Jean-Kevin Augustin, who recently led the French national side to the European Under-19 Championships title.

Also missing from the season-opener are midfield duo Adrien Rabiot and Grzegorz Krychowiak, who are serving suspensions carried over from the end of the last campaign.

But new coach Unai Emery has received a timely boost with the return to domestic action of Italian midfielder Marco Verratti, who has been sidelined with a groin problem since May.
