Striker happy at St Etienne

St Etienne forward Bafetimbi Gomis has stressed that he wants to stay with the club for the rest of the season. Gomis' future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months, with a number of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle and Everton, reportedly tracking his progress. But the France international insists he is happy at St Etienne and has no plans to leave in the January transfer window. However, he admits he will consider his options once again next summer. "It is true clubs are following me, but I am at St Etienne and I want to stay until the end of the season," Gomis told Aujourd'hui Sport. "Then, we will see. It is not my style to quit the club in a difficult position. The team needs me, so I will stay a St Etienne player, which is very clear to me. "I have prolonged my contract six months ago, so I won't leave." St Etienne are currently 17th in Ligue 1 after a disappointing start to the season.
