Argentine hit-man swaps Portugal for France
Lisandro Lopez has quit Portuguese giants Porto to join Lyon in a €24million (£20.6m) deal.
The Argentine striker moves to the Stade Gerland following a season in which he was not quite at his prolific best, notching just 10 goals all term.
Lopez proved a revelation in his first season at Porto as he finished the 2007/2008 campaign as the Portuguese league's top scorer.
It is perhaps in European competition that Lopez has best proved his credentials, with 13 goals in 28 UEFA Champions League games catching the eye.
The deal, which could rise by a further €4million payable in result-related bonuses, is the highest fee paid by the deposed French champions.
A busy summer of transfer activity at Lyon has seen the club sell star duo Juninho and Karim Benzema, while Ivory Coast star Kader Keita has joined Turkish outfit Galatasaray.
