La Liga round-up: Sevilla, Alaves keep up pace on leaders Barcelona

Sevilla and Alaves moved level on points with Atletico Madrid - and one point behind leaders Barcelona - in La Liga after fighting back for victories.

Sevilla earned a 2-1 win at home over Espanyol after scoring two late goals.

Gabriel Mercado cancelled out Borja Iglesias' opener by scoring from a corner kick in the 70th. Wissam Ben Yedder then chipped in a pass from Ever Banega to get the winner with one minute remaining.

Espanyol were left in fifth place after their first loss in seven rounds, while Sevilla are second on goal difference.

Alaves are fourth, but level on points with Sevilla and Atletico, after they mounted their third comeback win of the season to beat Huesca 2-1 with goals from Jonathan Rodriguez and Ruben Sobrino.
