Porto playmaker linked with Madrid and Marseille

Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Porto playmaker Lucho Gonzalez, according to the player's representative. The 28-year-old was linked with Real's rivals Atletico Madrid last summer but a move failed to materialise. Lucho has continued to impress over the past 12 months and it appears he could now be a target for Real. Real boss Manuel Pellegrini worked with the Argentine during his time in charge of River Plate and is known to be an admirer. Lucas Comineli, who works for the company that represents Lucho, claims there is also interest from France. "Marseille and Real Madrid are interested in Lucho Gonzalez," he told Jornal de Noticias. "However, neither have tabled any offer." Money would not be an issue for Real's returning president Florentino Perez, who has already spent a vast amount this summer and looks determined to continue making use of his chequebook. Lucho, who joined Porto from River Plate in 2005, has pledged his future to the Portuguese champions but it is believed an offer from one of Europe's biggest leagues would be enough to turn his head.
