Real boss pleased with Higuain and Benzema's performances
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is delighted to have both of his main forwards Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain on song ahead of the derby against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Benzema has scored seven times in the Primera Liga and four in the UEFA Champions League, while Higuain has bagged 11 goals in the league and one in Europe's premier club competition.
The duo played together for the first time this season against Dinamo Zagreb in Los Blancos' Champions League Group D game on Tuesday.
While the France international scored twice, Higuain found the target once as the Spanish giants marched on to a comprehensive 6-2 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.
On Saturday against Atletico in their league encounter at home, Mourinho is unlikely to field the pair together but the Portuguese is delighted to have the headache of choosing one over the other for the Madrid derby.
"It's true that, when they're both on top form as they are at the moment, it gives me a few problems, but so much the better," said Mourinho on Friday.
"I'm happy to have this doubt between Benzema and Higuain. I hope to have the same problem until the end of the season.
"I have the two best strikers in the world."
Meanwhile, Mourinho will have the services of winger Angel Di Maria and left-back Marcelo for the fixture as the duo have recovered from their respective injuries.
However, Mourinho will be without attacking midfielder Kaka, full-back Alvaro Arbeloa and central defender Ricardo Carvalho due to calf, hamstring and back problems respectively.
"Kaka isn't ready yet, but he'll be back soon," he explained. "He's still feeling his injury, even though he's now over it."
Real are currently in pole position in the league with 31 points from 12 matches, three points ahead of second-placed Barcelona.
