Ernesto Valverde has remained tight-lipped on Philippe Coutinho's future, saying "we will see" when asked if Barcelona would make a move for the Liverpool player.
Barcelona had three bids for Coutinho - the largest of which was worth £113m - rejected by Liverpool in the summer, despite the midfielder handing in a transfer request.
With the January transfer window now open, talk of Barcelona returning for the Brazilian has inevitably intensified.
In his press conference to preview Barcelona's Copa del Rey match against Celta Vigo, Valverde said: "We will see if he comes or not. He is a great player.
"We respect Liverpool and we respect the player. We don't know what will happen in the future but I like the players I have now in the squad."
Valverde, who has led Barcelona to a nine-point lead at the top of La Liga, was also asked about the future of Samuel Umtiti.
However, Valverde said: "It's true that when you put a price with the clause it could be that in three years that clause will seem cheap.
"But we have to remember the main thing - if a club pay the clause the player has to want to leave. That's the key thing.
"We are happy with Umtiti and he is happy playing for Barcelona. He will stay a long time here."
