Ludovic Giuly has completed his move from Barcelona to Roma.

The Catalan giants accepted an offer of £2.2million over the weekend and Giuly travelled to Italy on Monday to finalise the transfer.

He has now passed a medical and agreed terms on a lucrative three-year deal.

Giuly had been linked with a return to former club Monaco, as well as several other top European clubs, but he had his heart set on Roma.

"He refused offers from six other clubs who were willing to spend up to £6million for his services, but he chose Roma," Ernesto Bronzetti, who acted as mediator in the deal, told Rete Sport.

"Last night the difference between the request and the offer was down to £210,000. I opted to give up on my fee to allow the player to sign.

"Giuly had been mentioned as a technical counterpart when Barcelona were interested in Chivu. After the negotiations failed I immediately offered the Frenchman to Roma."
