Spanish giants look to avoid air chaos
Barcelona are flying to England on Tuesday evening, 48 hours ahead of their scheduled arrival, due to the volcanic ash cloud which is likely to cause extensive disruption to air space in the coming days.
Barca had planned to arrive in London on Thursday, ahead of the UEFA Champions League final at Wembley on Saturday evening.
However, a new ash cloud caused by a volcanic eruption in Iceland is threatening air travel across the continent.
In order to make sure they do not have to make the trip across land and sea, Barca have therefore opted to fly in to England early.
A Barca statement read: "To avoid possible disruption due to ash from the
volcano Grimsvotn, the Barca first team will travel to London today at
2200hrs."
