Catalan giants desperate to stop losing starlets

Barcelona are actively looking to see if they can legally stop some of their best young talent departing the club. Reports in Catalunya suggest that sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta is leading the investigation into whether there is some action Barca can take in the future. At the moment, Spanish clubs cannot tie down their players to professional contracts until they are 17, which has seen a number of 15 and 16 year-olds depart Camp Nou before they can make an impact in the first-team. Only this summer Arsenal lured highly-rated pair Jon Toral and Hector Bellerin away from the club. Now Barca are looking at the problem and they are hopeful they can find an accord that will make it more difficult for youth players to leave without the club's agreement.
