Getafe deny Dubai deal

Club president Torres insists there has been no sale yet

Getafe president Angel Torres has declared that the club has 'not yet' been sold to the Dubai-based Royal Emirates Group. Royal Emirates Group, which is chaired by a member of Dubai's ruling Al-Maktoum family, said on Thursday they had signed a deal to buy the club for between €70 and 90million. It was claimed in a statement that 'purchase contract' was finalised in Dubai by Torres and the business group's managing director, Kaiser Rafiq. However, Torres has now moved to clarify the situation after returning to Madrid from a trip to Dubai. "I was in Dubai looking for sponsors. We signed a series of agreements and protocols," he told reporters. "No one should doubt Angel Torres. Getafe has not yet been sold. "First I have to inform the board of all the things that were done, then I will give a news conference."
