Martin Demichelis will join La Liga side Espanyol on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester City.

The 35-year-old defender, who has been capped 50 times by Argentina, will sign a one-year contract with the Spanish club providing he passes a medical.

Demichelis played 31 times for City last season, but was allowed to leave this summer following the expiration of his contract.

He joined City in 2013 and made 35 appearances during his debut season in England as City won the Premier League title and Capital One Cup.
