New Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain has been branded "a little pig" by former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder Robert Prosinecki.
Argentina international Higuain joined Juve from Serie A rivals Napoli in a £75.25m transfer last month and made his debut as a substitute in the 3-2 friendly victory over West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday.
However, the 28-year-old looked overweight when he came on, which led to criticism from some fans on social media as well as Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Prosinecki, who now coaches Azerbaijan after a lengthy international career with Yugoslavia and Croatia, was also surprised by Higuain's physique, although the 47-year-old expects Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri to have him back in shape for the Serie A opener against Fiorentina on August 20.
"I was shocked to see Higuain, he is even more fat than me!" Prosinecki, who also had a spell with Portsmouth in 2001/2, told Jutarnji List. "They paid 94 million for him and he's arrived as a 'little pig'.
"I can imagine how shocked Allegri was, after he insisted on his signing. But they will make him fit soon."
